Rare New Orleans Collectible:
~ Powder compact from the infamous Beverly Country Club
~ Well known mob run playground  - one of the regions most notorious, swanky, and illegal casinos - where "Vices could be indulged in luxury"
~ Housed in an old mansion that is depicted on the front of the compact
~ Operated aprox 1945 - 1962 - based on the style of the compact and the powder remnants inside - I think this is an early souvenir
~ Imagine the woman who powdered her nose in the elegant bathroom with this?  Do you think she was an innocent tourist out for a night or fun or a mischievous southern belle all dolled up that knew exactly what she was doing?  Oh - the scenarios are endless .....

=  Good overall vintage condition
given the rarity and historical value.  The exterior has some finish darkening on the front and back that may or may not clean up, and the mirror has major flaws - see pics.  Hardware is in good working order.  And the divider, puff and powder are all in great shape.
