    Description

ANTIQUE RIDGEWAYS COPPER LUSTER 3QT MARDI GRAS / KREWES THEME PITCHER CIRCA 1900 RIDGEWAYS
This beautiful Mardi Gras / Krewes theme antique extra tall pitcher stands as 12-3/8" and holds 3 quarts to the brim. It was made by Ridgeways of England for D.H. Holmes of New Orleans between 1891 and 1904.
It has a stunning Copper Luster glaze over a drawing of "The Old Absinthe House, New Orleans, LA" on one side and "St. Louis Cathedral by General Jackson Statue" on the other side. It also has "From the Home of Comus, Proteus, Rex & Momus" printed on both sides.
The bottom ink stamped under glaze:
    * Made Specially For D.H. Holmes, Co., Ltd., New Orleans, LA
    * "Ridgeways" in the quiver and "England" in the bow marking
    * "T" and "S" markings for artist, finisher, or glazer
It has been sitting in a cabinet for over 50 years. There are no chips or cracks. There is crazing from age, but it only adds to the beauty of this piece. There is minimal wear on the rim and base for a piece of this age. There is also a small flaw at the base, as pictured, which was missed in the glazing process.
